The dental side where I work decided to throw a suprise baby shower for one of our hygienist, Aubree, during lunch yesterday. She and her husband, Mark are due to have their first child, a daughter, sometime in March.
We had it all planned out... Melissa & I are to leave the office at about 11:15am to go to Ned's Krazy Sub (we eat there all the time and it's also Aubree's favorite sub place) so that we can decorate a couple of tables there with baby stuff. Valerie had asked Aubree out for lunch @ noon on the premise of celebrating Aubree's birthday, which was last week (the day after mine he he he), so that Aubree wouldn't suspect that we are up to something.
Well, Melissa & I did leave when we were supposed to. We had everything (Melissa even baked the cake the night before) except for the balloons which we thought we could get at the $1 store next to Ned's. Ha ha... when we got to the S1 store, they don't have any!!! So, we had to go up a couple of streets to the party store to get the balloons. Well, when we got there, the guy was in the middle of filling another order so we had to wait our turn even though we only had 5 balloons to blow up. By then it was too late for us to go somewhere else so we waited. Anyways, after about 15 minutes (seems longer than that), we finally got the balloons and rushed back to Ned's to try and make it there before Aubree does so that we can finish decorating.
It was kinda funny to see us in the car. Melissa was driving so I had the responsibility of keeping the balloons from blocking her view as well as making sure that the cake (which was laying in a pan on the back seat) didn't go flying every time Melissa makes a turn or brakes.
Of course when you are in a hurry, everything else seems to so slow down. We got stuck behind a couple of snowbirds driving maybe 30 mph so when we got back to Ned's Aubree was already there with the rest of the gals. She still didn't suspect anything when she saw the rest of the gals were there too. She just thought that maybe everyone decided to eat at Ned's that day. She finally realized that it was a baby shower for her when she saw me carrying the balloons and cake to the table and Melissa had the decorations.
Anyways, we had fun for the next 1 1/2 hours we were there. Aubree received lots of baby goodies. Unfortunately, it went too fast and we had to go back to work... Here are some pics that I took at the shower. Of course, I am again missing from any of the pics since I was the photographer.....
